The wage supplement that was intended to help businesses in the road of recovering from the adverse affects of the COVID-19 pandemic has been extended until January, Prime Minister Robert Abela confirmed yesterday.

This comes amidst worries of the seemingly worsening COVID-19 situation, with cases well on the rise for the last few weeks.

Abela confirmed this in an announcement straight from Brussels.

Many have called for the wage supplement to be extended, with PN leader Bernard Grech urging for it to be extended until March.

Abela said that the Cabinet took the decision to extend the supplement based on not wanting to lose any of the progress that has been made in the last months.
