Listen Up Malta: This Is How Long It Will Take You To Lose Those Festive Pounds

We all throw caution to the wind over Christmas and regardless of the aftermath, it’s definitely worth it. However, it’s now January and time to start dealing with the realities of the situation. Namely, those festive pounds that have made our jeans a little bit more snug than usual.

Unfortunately, while we might think that a few salads and after-works jogs will balance things out, a new study has claimed that it could be July before most people return to their pre-Christmas weight.

A study of 3,000 people carried out by Cornell University found that a person’s average weight peaks on January 3rd. While half of the extra pounds are generally lost by the end of January, the research has a sobering warning about the remaining 50 per cent.

“Although up to half of weight gain is lost shortly after the holidays, half the weight gain appears to remain until the summer months or beyond,” researchers warned.
