St. George’s Bay Clear Of Sewage Causing E. Coli Contamination

St. George’s Bay is clear of the sewage that resulted in an E. Coli contamination which prompted a statement issued a month ago by the Superintendence of Public Health warning swimmers not to bathe in the area.
The seawater was sampled from the site and results indicated that it is once again fit for bathing.
Lately, sewage leaks into Maltese bays and streets have become an increased cause for concern, with public health warnings telling people not to swim and frustrated residents worried about the regular exposure to “raw sewage”.
Between May and September, there were at least seven instances of sewage-contaminated seas – St. George’s Bay, Balluta Bay, Tax-Xama, Perched Beach, Ġnejna, Ċirkewwa, and Ras il-Ħobż Ghajnsielem.
Meanwhile, when it comes to on-land sewage leaks, a resident of Msida spoke with Lovin Malta as a last resort against the persisting outflow of raw sewage in the subway below Skatepark – the only point of crossing beside the dangerous and busy roundabout above.
The island’s outdated infrastructure is starting to show its age to the detriment of the Maltese public. If you want more information about sewage leaks in Malta click here.
