The Med-Tech World Summit, will receive the honour of being the first to glimpse Endiatx‘s innovative micro-robotic device, the PillBot.

Designed as a virtual endoscope, PillBot allows doctors to remotely visualise a patient’s internals without invasive procedures. Simply swallowed after a short fast, it will give physicians the tools to navigate through a patient’s gastrointestinal tract via a smartphone app, gathering real-time, AI-enhanced diagnostic data. Upon completion, the robotic pill is removed from the body naturally.

This invention has piqued significant interest in the medical community, particularly among GI doctors, for its potential to streamline diagnosis processes and minimise invasive procedures.

At the summit, attendees will witness the PillBot in action: the company’s CEO will ingest the device, which will be operated remotely by a GI specialist from the renowned Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Dylan Attard of Med-Tech World Summit expressed his excitement, “We’re incredibly grateful to have Endiatx featured at the Malta Med-Tech World Summit and to put Malta’s name on the global med-tech map. It’s an honour to have such companies showcasing technologies that will be revolutionising our healthcare… to inspire the world with the endless possibilities of PillBot and many other technologies alike.”

While Endiatx is forging ahead, they’re seeking FDA clearance in the U.S. and looking to expand their investment and distribution networks. With innovations like the forthcoming ‘PillSurgeon’, based on the PillBot platform, the company’s commitment to less invasive and more accessible medical solutions promises to reshape healthcare globally.

Dr Attard believes that “Malta can transform into a thriving med-tech by supporting new ideas, offering financial incentives, and nurturing talent. By creating research places, offering financial incentives to start-ups, and making regulatory processes easier to follow, Malta can draw attention from big international companies.”

“When academics, businesses, and the government work together, could create a dynamic and successful environment – potentially putting Malta on the map for medical technologies. I’m really hopeful that we can make this happen in the next few years.”

So keep on the lookout for the Malta Med-Tech World Summit, whose main event is set to take place between 19th-20th October, and which would not be possible without the unwavering support from Malta Enterprise, Malta Medicines Authority & Malta Digital Innovation Authority.
