The new Dar Bjorn in Żebbuġ was inaugurated earlier this month and promises a safe, serene and dignified environment for 30 patients with neurodegenerative conditions.

This project has been in the making for years and is yet another dream come true for Bjorn Formosa, his wife Maria and the entire ALS Malta team, who work tirelessly to improve the lives of Neuro patients in Malta and Gozo. Dar Bjorn in Żebbuġ has already welcomed its first patients and some very special guests attended its inauguration.

The second Dar Bjorn aims to continue supporting patients in difficult conditions due to neurodegenerative conditions such as ALS or MS. Already boasting comfortable rooms for 30 patients, the specialized home also includes a neurological gym and pool, chapel, meeting areas for patients and a rooftop on the 5th floor with outdoor benefits.

ALS Malta relies heavily on generous donations from the public to continue to support patients and provide them with holistic care.

Here’s how you too can be part of this project and help make a difference in a patient’s life:

Willing to write about absolutely anything, Kelly’s love for storytelling started in childhood as she hoarded books, films and collections of short stories that all became an escape from the ordinary. She has now (finally) decided to put what she learned to good use and keeps herself busy by using her words and her voice to help tell other people’s stories, to inspire, uplift and connect with others. While writing is certainly a passion of hers, theatre is Kelly’s first love, and she has been acting professionally for over ten years.
