Ever Wondered What Filfla Looks Like Up Close? Public Tour Around The Mysterious Maltese Island Announced
Members of the public will be given the opportunity to see the small island of Filfla from up close during a tour around the island being organised by Heritage Malta.
Filfla is a small island situated off Malta’s southwest coast which is inaccessible to the public. It is even illegal to navigate a vessel in the vicinity of the island, making it one of Maltese Island’s least visited and seen areas.
The tour will take place on Saturday 21st August and promises to reveal several interesting anecdotes about the small island.
While it may look small and insignificant, Filfla has a very interesting narrative to it, Heritage Malta said.
The island was used for target practice by British forces stationed in Malta. Several Copper and Bronze age artifacts have also been discovered on the island.
The tour will leave from Sliema Ferries at 10am sharp and will head straight towards Filfla.
There will, unfortunately, be no disembarkation on the island, or swimming in the vicinity.
The mysterious island was the subject of an underwater documentary funded by the Malta Airport Foundation in 2016.
