WATCH: This Teleshopping Demonstration Featuring An Egg And One Very Comfortable Cushion Is The Maltese Meme We've All Been Waiting For
The 'Eggsitter' is the island's latest must-have item
Viral videos' trajectories are close to impossible to predict. Sometimes, the stupidest of clips can end up becoming memes, with people only finding the humour once the video has made the rounds and people have come up with their own parodies. That can definitely not be said, however, when it comes to one Maltese clip that had us in stitches within seconds of watching it.
In a short video clip showing an instant classic of a Teleshopping item, Malta's very own Peter Caruana tal-EasyLife takes viewers on an emotional rollercoaster to showcase one very comfortable cushion.
Dubbed the 'Eggsitter', the item's weird name quickly becomes very obvious. Peter whips out an actual egg, placing it squarely in the middle of the comfortable-looking blue cushion. "I'll later show you how the egg isn't some hard dummy, because I don't do stuff like that," Peter reassures his audience.
What happens next might surprise you. Or it might just entertain the living hell out of you.
"Tfajt il-bajda. Jien ser inpoġġi fuq il-bajda. Tajjeb? Araw daqxejn"
"I've placed the egg," Peter announces, going on to say, "I will now sit on the egg."
And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. As cooly as possible, Peter proceeds to sit on the egg. "I'm rested, I'm leaning all the way back," he goes on to explain, while still casually sitting on the egg. "If only you knew how comfortable this is, how good this cushion's sensation is."
Of course, there are a lot of people who would benefit from a cushion this comfortable. As Peter explains, anyone from fishermen to the elderly would can really do with an Eggsitter... which will set you back a cool €44.90, by the way.
But he's not done yet. Oh no, there's one final, vital step to go.
As casually as he sat on the egg, Peter stands up again, prompting a hilarious "Bied bajda!" from the person who was filming the spot on his phone.
And finally, for the pièce de résistance, Peter cracks the egg open into a nearby dish, proving to everyone that he was indeed using a real egg, and not some phoney decoy. This is the real deal ladies and gentlemen, and in case you were wondering, this is indeed art.
