LMA Performance Spotlight: Giorgia Borg, The Child Prodigy Who’s Conquering Countries With Her Voice
It’s not easy being in the spotlight at such a young age, but for one 11-year-old Maltese girl, it’s exactly what she was born to do. The overnight sensation stole the show at Britain’s Got Talent this year and within a matter of months went from singing at home to performing in front of thousands abroad.
There’s no denying that the young girl from Malta has, without-a-doubt, the most powerful and emotional voice we’ve seen come from this small island in a while, and she’s clearly just getting started.
So keep your eyes peeled and your ears to the ground and remember the name: Giorgia Borg.

Although Britain’s Got Talent might have been her ‘big break’, Giorgia’s singing career started way before she ever thought about entering the competition.
While most of us were learning how to put on our shoes and remember not to poop our pants, Giorgia was already competing in international singing contests, encouraged by her two mothers who recognised the young girl’s talent from birth.
Her first appearance was on Italy’s Una Stella Sta Nascendo back in 2015, where she won Best Junior Talent.
Even at the age of seven, Giorgia displayed a sense of maturity and showmanship way beyond her years, making her stand out from the group and showing everyone that she has that special gift that can neither be bought nor learned.
Having conquered Italy, Giorgia came back home and at nine years old competed at Sanremo Junior Festival… where she again came out on top, this time with performing Listen.
The national progression for any child singer in Malta would be to compete for a place at the Junior Eurovision Contest.
Unfortunately, despite an amazing performance, Giorgia for the first time would taste defeat and placed third in the heat.
At just 10 years old, there’s only so much you can do for your music career locally, and Giorgia knew this all too well.
In order to reach her full potential, Giorgia needed to take her talents abroad, and project her magical voice to a bigger crowd in a bigger room.
And so along came Britain’s Got Talent…
Giorgia went from falling just short of the Eurovision to stunning the crowd and receiving a golden buzzer at Britain’s Got Talent with an explosive rendition of her original song Ten.
Just like that, she proved those who doubted her wrong and propelled to international fame, making headlines across the UK and receiving over 3 million views on YouTube.
Even Prime Minister Joseph Muscat chimed in on the praise of Malta’s newest sensation.

Yet once again, it was a bittersweet ending for the young star, who didn’t make it past the semi-finals at Britain’s Got Talent.
Although she didn’t bring home the Gold, Giorgia took one massive consolation with her – some insanely positive feedback from the judges, who loved her performance.
“You are a gutsy little thing, your confidence is quite extraordinary,” Simon Cowell told her after her performance. “I really believe you are going to have a career in this business.”
Down but definitely not defeated, Giorgia is now back on the rock with an insane potential, and she’s already got a few things lined up…
Including a performance at the Lovin Music Awards where she’s also nominated for Best International Success and (you guessed it) Best Upcoming Female Artist.
Having put on several spectacular performances on BGT, Giorgia also has a good chance of winning the award for Best Performance Of The Night thanks to our telecom partners GO Music Wildcard.
