If there’s one thing that Karl Abela is passionate about, it’s playing guitar. The 19-year-old musician doesn’t let the fact that he is blind hold him back – and his latest video proves just how talented the young man really is.

His previous videos were original compositions inspired by the likes of Pink Floyd. However, his most recent video is inspired by a different type of producer – specifically, Robert Samut and Dun Karm Psaila, the team behind Malta’s national anthem, L-Innu Malti.

At the opening of the Mediterranean Tourism Forum, Karl Abela performed his own unique take on the Maltese national anthem.

Using a sweet wah-wah pedal, some distortion and a touch of delay, this is L-Innu Malti like you’ve never heard it before.

The eclectic cover features some impressive tapping, bends, and even a killer harmonic at the end.
