Watch: Moira Stafrace Releases Sugar Pain In Explosive Musical Comeback

In her first release as a solo artist, Moira Stafrace’s Sugar Pain is a bold reemergence onto the musical scene.

“This is my comeback” the artist told Lovin Malta, “after 28 years with Chris and Moira.”

Chris and Moira were a beloved musical duo, who were perhaps best known for having represented Malta together at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2022 – which would prove to be a very difficult year – Moira lost her partner Chris after a long battle with cancer.

Since bidding farewell to her partner, Moira has been hard at work – which has led to the release of Sugar Pain.

“This was challenging for me cos the songwriting was totally different to what I’m used to, but I pushed myself as I always do, and it really worked…”

Sugar Pain kicks off with a heavy fast-paced drumbeat – which is quickly matched by fervent guitars. Both instruments fade into the background as Stafrace’s vocals take centre stage.

“This is an ongoing project I have been working on with David Cassar Torreggiani and David Depasquale, who represent DiggerThings” said Stafrace.

“I wrote the lyrics and melody line to the song and David CT did the music.”

Stafrace’s solo career is already off to an exciting start with Sugar Pain, but there’s still much more to come.

“This isn’t the only production I have. There’s much more comin’ up and, I’m super excited about it!”
