7 Memories All 90s Kids Share At The Plaza
Slap on some lipgloss and put on all of your shag bands as we’re heading back in time. If you’re a 90s kid, then you’ve probably hung out at The Plaza during your teens. No matter if you were one of the cool kids or just liked to chill – you’ll definitely remember doing at least one of these seven things back in the day.
1. Meeting half of Malta
A trip to The Plaza would usually mean that you’re going to meet five people you know, at the very least, including your twice removed aunt who you haven’t seen in ages. With so many teens working there, going to visit your crew during their shift and hanging out with them was quite the norm.
2. Treating yourself to a toast at Stella’s
Talking to all those people can be tiring, and that could only mean one thing… toast time! Devouring the tasty goodness that was the toast at Stella’s was really the cherry on the cake when you spend a day at The Plaza.
3. Going around all the shops
Who didn’t love a bit of window shopping? Hitting up Bennetton to find your freshest piece of new clothes was a must-do back then. Once you’ve tried on a million and one shirts, heading over to Frank’s to try out all of the different testers was the perfect way to finish off your fashion extravaganza.
4. Experiencing the lift and escalator
With technology and automated things just hitting our shores, even using the escalator was an experience back then. There was always that one person who tried to beat the escalators. If you were feeling extra special, you’d even treat yourself to a ride on the glass elevator, in true Willy Wonka style.
5. Listening to some new tunes at Virgin
Spotify wasn’t a thing back then, so discovering new music was a whole different experience. Everyone would head on over to Virgin to flip through the latest CDs and vibe to the latest tunes that would have just come out.
6. Having a seat on Ronald McDonald’s lap
Whether it’s Santa or Ronald McDonald, for some reason there was a lot of sitting on people’s laps for a memory that lasts a lifetime. No matter what floats your boat, both of these kooky characters could be found at the mall.
7. Gandering around Gajet
Last but not least, a day at The Plaza was not complete without checking out all of the weird and wonderful things at Gajet. Whether it’s flipping through the posters or having a look at the naughty toys on display – spending time at Gajet was a must.
