Floriana FC has announced that its head coach Mauro Camoranesi will depart the club by mutual consent.

Assistant Coach Fernando Nowicki will also depart.

Camoranesi, who was part of Italy’s 2006 World Cup Winning squad, joined Floriana at the start of the season and guided them to second place in the Maltese Premier League.

However, his tenure was soured by a 5-0 defeat to Ħamrun Spartans at the end of the season, which secured Ħamrun’s league victory.

Floriana also lost out on the FA Trophy after losing to Sliema Wanderers on penalties in the final last weekend.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Coach Mauro German Camoranesi and Assistant Coach Fernando Nowicki,” Floriana FC said in a statement.

“Their dedication and contributions have been invaluable to the team,” With mutual agreement, their contracts will not be extended, and we wish them the very best in their future endeavours.”

Ħamrun Spartans is also on the lookout for a new coach, after Luciano Zauri – also a former Italy international – departed the club at the end of the season.
