Check Out These Rising Maltese Sports Stars Who Are Killing It Abroad
People who excel at sports are a strange and awe-inspiring phenomenon for everyone else who doesn’t. Being a sports star is more than having insane natural talent, it’s also about intense discipline, dedication, and even sacrifice. Or so they tell us – the closest thing we’ve done to sports is competing over who can eat food the fastest.
So on the basis of being mega impressed by anyone who does sports properly, we’re giving a shout out to Malta’s youngest sports star who are making waves beyond our shores.

This guy plays water polo wth San Ġiljan locally and has also been training in Serbia with Dunav. He was the flag bearer at the first European Games in Baku, he was the youngest Maltese player at the 2016 European Championships in Belgrade, he won Żagħżugħ tas-Sena title last year, and he’s a finalist again this year. Should we go on?
2. Rachel Cuschieri – Football
This talented midfielder plays for the Cypriot club Apollon Limassol. She was selected for the Malta women’s national football team and played against Switzerland at the age of 14. Meanwhile, the rest of us were chilling at Għadira practicing not making our parents proud.
3. Miguel Spiteri – Football
This guy has barely begun his teenage years and he’s already training as a goalie with Club Deportivo Leganés in Spain. Before that he spent some time training with Katane Soccer in Sicily. This guy’s trajectory is definitely impressive.
4. Myles Beerman – Football

Giordimaina is winning accolades left, right and centre. He took part in the Junior Commonwealth Championships and the Nordhagen Classic International Tournament in Canada, winning the 55kg category. He’s also won medals while competing in Spain, Finland – there’s just no keeping up with this guy.
