‘I Promise This To Myself’: Maltese Athlete On Setting Goals And Sticking To Them During Trudy Kerr’s Podcast
Maltese athlete Raissa Camilleri spoke encouraging words on setting goals and sticking to them when it comes to embarking on a fitness journey.
This was discussed on the latest episode of Trudy Kerr’s podcast, The She Word, prioritising conversations women rarely have but really should have – this time focused on women in sports.
Kerr spoke to Camilleri, who recently qualified for the Hyrox World Championships, as well as Athletic National Champion Rosalie Borg, and Crossfitter Kelsey Spiteri, on their journeys as athletes.
“For anyone who is looking to start something – you do you – whatever it is. So even if for you, your goal is to just try to move a little bit because you’re at work or at home all the time, just set your own goal,” Camilleri said during the show.
“And again, it doesn’t have to be some kind of Olympics – your goal could be to give one hour of movement to yourself. Just do it,” she said.
“And I think that is it – having the bigger goal and then breaking it down, and then just saying ‘I promise this to myself.”
“You can’t attach it to an external person and say I’m gonna do it for him, or I’m gonna do it for my kids – no, cause that’s not enough,” she said.
