Maltese footballer Haley Bugeja returned in spectacular fashion for Sassuolo over the weekend, scoring a goal and sealing the win for the Serie A side.

Bugeja made her way onto the pitch in the 76th minute and five minutes later netted a goal to give Sassuolo a 2-0 lead against San Marino.

This was her first appearance for Sassuolo since 13th February, where she sustained an injury against Milan in the Coppa Italia. It is also her first goal of the year.

Bugeja, who was voted as Malta’s Sportswoman of the Year last week, has scored seven goals in 12 league appearances for Sassuolo. She is eighth in the league’s goal-scoring charts.
