WATCH: Malta’s Football Clubs Get The Video Game Treatment They Deserve In Latest Unofficial PES 2020 Clip

Move over FIFA, Malta’s got a new favourite football video game.

Following news that Malta would be joining the list of national teams for PES 2020, someone has taken the exciting news one step further by adding two of the island’s biggest clubs. And trust us; it’s the coolest thing to happen to Maltese football since Birkirkara took West Ham to penalities in 2015.

In video footage that suddenly appeared on YouTube this week, Birkirkara FC faces current champions Valletta FC in a 90-minute game simulation from the latest edition of the PES franchise, featuring actual players from both teams, their actual kits and pretty accurate player ratings.

While the Maltese national football team has been confirmed for the latest edition of the popular football video game, we haven’t heard anything about the island’s clubs. But whoever took it upon themselves to edit the two teams in (because we’re assuming that’s actually what happened here) really did go the whole nine yards; names, kits, they’re all here. Even the clubs’ sponsors manage to feature on the kits!

Unfortunately, PES haven’t included the club or player names in their pre-recorded running commentary (especially seeing as this is a fan-edit), leaving commentators Peter Drury and Jim Beglin to use very vague descriptions to describe the match.

But who cares? This is absolutely awesome and everyone from the South End Core to your nanna is going to want to buy the game… if only to help take Malta all the way to the Euro 2020s (virutally, that is).
