Article Featured Image

Apart from being perfect for winding down and watching a good film, being high also means that picking out said film is crucial. Choosing one might take hours, and with all the sidetracking you are bound to find yourself in, the hours might turn into half a day.

So here’s a list of Maltese films (in descending order of brilliance / fucked uppery) that you really need to watch next time you get high. Thank us later

6. Il-Kerrejja

Il-Kerrejja is centered around life in… well, a kerrejja, and the people living there. The whole movie is set in the courtyard. Deep bro.

5. Maltageddon

This is a definite must-watch if you just want to have a good laugh without getting a heavy plot to understand.

Even if your brains are mush, you will still get the jokes and enjoy this film for what it is — proper, lame, beautiful Maltese comedy.

4. L-Imxajtan

This tragic drama centres around the life of an old man and his family who struggle with poverty and corrupt morals. The dialogue will make you feel like you aren’t watching a film at all, but life flashing in front of you.

Clearly, Elio Lombardi is the God of Maltese drama.

3. Anġli: The Movie

This film tells the story of Anġli (Anġlu and Gabriel, get it?) and features (among other things) a fast-paced fight scene in a grocer, an almost never-ending bike chase in Valletta, about five million variations of the flying kick and of course, the usual romantic side story.

Anġli The Movie is the perfect film to watch on a lazy day.

2. Il-Ħames Kmandament

Sadly for all of you reading this article, we could not find the full film, but here is a scene to whet your appetite.

The acting is surreal and it makes us feel like this is not a film, but a real life tragedy.

Lombardi truly impresses us with every film he makes.

1. Maltaforce

Who doesn’t like looking at Xandru being pretty on screen?

This film is so funny and insensitive that you will not believe what you are seeing and hearing. It’s one of the best Maltese films around. It’s painfully hilarious and the lines are amusing and almost surprising. Do not be intimidated by the trailer; this film is a must watch.

Also, there’s Renato in it.
