Festive AF: 6 Of This Year’s Top Christmas Markets And Festivals In Malta
As November ends and December begins, tons of Christmas markets are popping up all over the Maltese islands to really get everyone into the holiday spirit.
Whether crafts, Christmassy food, mulled wine or carols are your thing, there will be something to suit everyone.
One thing is guaranteed: Christmas lights and lots of festive spirit is heading to Malta!
So don’t be a grinch and head over to one – or all – of these six Christmas markets.
1. Malta Artisan Xmas Market
1st & 2nd December
This year, the Malta Artisan’s Xmas Market will be located in Floriana.
You can expect high quality local arts & crafts, locals seasonal produce, delicious delicacies. Their aim is to promote local artists and craftspeople who showcase their talents.
It is co-organised by The Definitive(ly) Good Guide Co (publishers of The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta & Gozo) so you can expect lots of good cuisine. from Kuya, Salsa & Samba Street Bites, Go Dutch and much more!
2. The Elves’ Christmas Factory
14th – 16th December
Back by popular demand after its first year, The Elves’ Christmas Factory aims to be bigger than last year.
On the cards is fun for all the family including photos with Santa, ‘Malta’s Largest Christmas Stocking’, tons of stalls selling food, handmade crafts, plants and toys, photo booths and much much more!
3. Natalis Notabilis
7th to 13th December
For seven days, one of the biggest (if not the biggest) and most popular Christmas Market is back with a bang for the third year (expect with 100 stalls).
There will be a plethora of fun things to take part in and some scrumptious food (tons of it).
Expect a Nativity Trail within the Franciscan Friary’s Secret Garden, the Natalis Notabilis Crib Exhibition located in a 500 year old convent and a number of choir performances.

4. Christmas Village at the Valletta Waterfront
1st to 23rd December
Valleta’s (stunning) Waterfront will be transformed into a huge Christmas village and it’s set to be a blast.
Guests can expect tons of Xmas food, music and activities. Take part in free activities under a 35ft Christmas tree such bands, choirs, cribs and more.
Santa and his elves will be free for photos and there will be lots of other activities for kids like bouncy castles, games and face-painting.

5. Malta International Christmas Choir Festival
6th to 10th December
Created by EuroArt Productions, this Xmas choir festival will last over four days and consists of numerous choirs from all over the world performing in various baroque churches in Malta.

6. International Christmas Fair
30th November 2018
December might start tomorrow, but you don’t even have to wait till then to kick off the festive spirit!
Located at the swanky Intercontinental hotel in St Julian’s, this Christmas fair will include a variety of amazing stalls, live music, demonstrations, Xmas cards, festive baked goods, tons of prizes to be won, artisanal goods and of course tons of Christmas food & drink.
All proceeds will be donated to the three charities, namely, Dar Qalb ta’ Ġesù, Ċentru Tbexbix, and the Malta Guide Dogs Foundation.
