Record-Breaking March: Malta International Airport Surpasses 600,000 Passenger Milestone
In March, Malta International Airport (MIA) achieved a record-breaking milestone by surpassing 600,000 passengers for the first time in its history.
MIA welcomed a total of 633,826 passengers in March, with traffic registering a 30.1% growth compared to the same period in 2023.
This surge contributed to a successful first quarter of 2024, which closed with a total of 1,573,712 passenger movements.
The peak in passenger volumes occurred towards the end of March, with 27,250 passengers traveling through the airport on Thursday, 28th March.
The end of March also marked a significant transition for the airport. After serving as the national flag carrier for the past five decades, Air Malta concluded its services with the final flight landing at the airport in the early hours of 31st March.
Its successor, KM Malta Airlines, began operations on the same day, with the inaugural flight departing later.
Additionally, Universal Air commenced operations from the airport towards the end of March, further enhancing connectivity and contributing to the airport’s growth trajectory.
