13 Weird Ice Cream Flavours In Malta You Need To Try Out This Summer

It’s hot, it’s sticky and we have a bad case of the sweet tooth. Ice cream is back everyone! This sweet creamy dessert is a favourite among people living in Malta; it comes in a myriad of flavours, it’s delicious and it cools you down like no other. What’s not to love?

Having said that, there are some really strange flavours out there, some of them which are downright weird, and others which we are more than willing to try out.

Here’s a list of all the peculiar ice cream flavours you can meet on the island.

1. Plasmon

Let’s face it, Plasmon ice cream is a weird idea. But that does not mean that we don’t want to try it out; it’s baby biscuits after all. This is our first entry from SottoZero, but it sure won’t be our last.

Weird or not, anything Amorino do looks just so heavenly it makes us want to cry. Their signature flower shaped ice creams look sweet AF, so no matter what flavour they are, we will still want to eat that.

3. Hemp

This hemp gelato is most probably a must for all you weed lovers our there. We did not try it, but we can’t really say that it’s not weird or anything. We just know for sure that it will not get you high. Maybe.

4. Cisk

This is the go-to flavour for all the tough guys out there who really enjoy their ice cream but don’t want to be seen licking on anything that’s not manly. This Cisk-y ice cream is as Maltese as it gets.

5. Chai Latte

The south’s ice cream veteran is at it once again with this delicious invention. In all honesty it looks amazing and who the hell doesn’t love some chai latte? Nobody, that’s who.

6. Blue Label

Busy Bee is here to quench your craving for icy cold beer and creamy ice cream with their Farson’s Blue Label flavour. Finally, we can enjoy ice cream with our alpha male relatives without feeling like we are undermining their masculinity. Yes!

7. Kannol

This delicious gelato should be made into our national flavour. It’s weird, but it’s also mouthwatering. Kannol ice cream is literally our dream come true.

8. Turkish Delight

Turkish delight flavoured ice cream is our new favourite delicacy. Pjazza Gelateria offer this delicious flavour to satisfy all those who want to are mad over this delight. The nation will be divided over this flavour — you either love it or you hate it.

9. Ħobż tal-Malti

One of the OG weird flavours out there. Pjazza Gelateria had shot to popularity two years ago with this eccentric traditionally tasting ice cream, and the rest was delicious history.

10. Imqaret

Another very Maltese and very weird flavour from Pjazza Gelateria. Imqaret looks inviting enough for us to get our hands on it.

11. Pastizzi

Is it savoury? Is it sweet? We don’t know, and we’d much rather it remained a mystery until we tried it ourselves.

12. Red Bull

This is the go-to ice cream for anyone who needs a proper boost. Get grunting and energised with this Red Bull flavoured ice cream.

13. Panettone

You all know how we at Lovin Malta feel about Panettone, but we might try this curious flavour just to see how we would feel about it.
