For the very first time in the history books, Team Malta emerged victorious in the highly esteemed Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE).

And now, it’s time to give our incredible players the celebration they deserve.

Get ready for ‘Celebrating Team Malta’, an exciting event that’s free for all to attend. Join the players who made Malta proud on Wednesday, 14th June at 7.30pm in Valletta’s Castille Square.

This gathering invites families to come together and warmly welcome our Maltese athletes who proudly represented our nation in the 2023 GSSE.

The success of Malta in these games was nothing short of extraordinary. With a staggering medal count of 38 Gold, 30 Silver, and 29 Bronze, Malta claimed the top spot in the overall medal leaderboard, surpassing the other eight participating countries.

Interestingly, our previous best performance in the games dates back to 2003, when Malta hosted the event for the second time. On that occasion, we secured a respectable fourth place, amassing a total of 44 medals.

‘Celebrating Team Malta’ guarantees an unforgettable spectacle, where families can personally meet their local heroes—the athletes who represented Malta in the GSSE 2023. During this event, attendees will have the chance to relive some of the most memorable moments from the games.

“‘Celebrating Team Malta’ symbolises our unwavering support and unity towards our exceptional athletes. Although the games have come to a close, let us continue to rally behind Team Malta, motivating them to strive for even greater success in Maltese sports,” the Malta Olympic Committee said.

To add to the excitement, popular local artists Amber and Aidan, accompanied by a live band, will grace the stage. These talented performers lent their voices to the official song of the games, “Shine Your Light.” Joining them on stage will be renowned DJs Ziggy and David, ensuring a lively atmosphere throughout the evening.
