Alleged Armed Robbery Leaves Sliema Hotel Employee Suffering From Severe Shock
An alleged armed robbery at a hotel in Sliema has left an employee working at the reception suffering from severe shock after he was forced to give two masked people money.
Police were informed of a robbery yesterday at around 11.45pm at a hotel on Triq Windsor.
Upon arriving at the scene, officials discovered that two people wearing crash helmets entered the hotel and demanded money from an employee: a 29-year-old Indian resident of St Paul’s Bay.
After handing them the cash that was at the reception, the thieves allegedly threatened the man with a firearm, ordering him to take them to the floor where the money is held.
As they were on the way to this floor, the man managed to escape, locked himself in a room, and called for help. The alleged thieves quickly fled the scene with the stolen money.
The employee suffered severe shock after this ordeal.
Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici opened an inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
