Bread And Beyond Broken Into Amid Multiple Break-In Attempts In Sliema

Sliema sandwich shop Bread and Beyond was broken into yesterday amid multiple break in attempts reported in the area.
“I went to open the shop as usual and discovered that the window was missing. I immediately reported the incident to the police, who arrived within a few minutes,” the owner told Lovin Malta.
“It turned out the window had been forced open. A thief had entered the shop, pulled out the cash drawer, and left with it at around 0320am. From nearby camera footage that the police obtained, the individual could be seen walking away slowly with the drawer in hand.”
Residents in Sliema have been left shaken after two attempted break-ins targeted the homes of elderly women on Monday night and another on Stella Maris street yesterday.
Daniel Camilleri, who lives on Don Mikiel Rua Street, said the incidents on Monday night occurred at neighbouring properties near the junction with Howard Street. He explained that the burglars appeared to use a crowbar in both cases as reported by Times of Malta.
“One of the women, who lives across the street, was at home when they tried to force her door,” Camilleri said. “The other, who lives just above me, came back at midnight to find her door and wall chipped, with clear signs of someone trying to pry it open. Honestly, it’s shocking. They clearly aren’t that scared of being caught.”
Yesterday, in Stella Maris street, another attempted break-in took place between 11.30am and 5pm when no one was home. The door can be seen to have crowbar marks, possibly linking the attempts to each other.
Police have since confirmed both burglary attempts and said investigations are underway. No witnesses have reported seeing or hearing the intruders.
Camilleri has appealed to the public to help. He urged anyone with CCTV footage from Don Mikiel Rua Street or Howard Street to hand it over to the police, and asked residents to report if they noticed anyone walking around Sliema with a crowbar or similar object that night.
Police are continuing their investigations.
