How Did We Freshen Up The KSU Freshers’ Week? Here’s What Went Down

The long-awaited KSU Freshers’ Week at the University of Malta went down last week, and Lovin Malta was on the scene to see what was on students minds’ on their fabled return.

From discussions about blended learning to snackage and two big giveaways, Freshers’ Week was definitely the place to be… at least for a week.

Day 1

LM’s very own Sasha Vella kicked the day off with a Vox Pop all about lectures, whether they preferred them in-person or online, and why.

Students highlighted the importance of being physically on campus to be able to integrate in their lectures. One student stated: ‘Being at University, you come here to learn, whereas being at home is where you relax, so to mix the two is not a good idea”.

Another student highlighted the current parking and traffic issues students face.

“To avoid traffic jams in the morning at 8am and possibly missing a lecture,” is a good reason to implement blended learning where students can have a mix of online lectures and physical lectures.

Another student noted: “Some lectures start at 5pm and 8pm so it would be a good idea to be able to have those lessons online, as sometimes you don’t end up home before 10pm”.

As for the rest of the week? Well it wouldn’t be Freshers’ Week without some freebies. From pens to stickers, the LM team were all about putting the “fresh” in Freshers’.

We also held two giveaways: one lucky person was offered an internship with Lovin Malta, and one lucky student organisation or business-minded student was awarded a massive €4,000 marketing package.

But don’t fret! We will be holding some more giveaways soon, so be sure to follow us on our social media pages, to be in with the chance of winning.

Then it was time to get to the deep stuff. We took to the student populace to answer the most important question of all: Krips or Twistees?

And the lovely student body down at University gladly answered it for us. After students gleefully accepted our social squad throwing Krips and Twistees at them, the polls were in. Our friends over at Twistees were the clear winners, receiving a staggering 59% of the votes in our poll.

And because we’re all suckers for a good snack, we also had to ask: Blisters of Jungle Sticks?

And again the student body happily answered. Our polls found that Jungle Sticks was the clear winner, receiving 55% of the total votes.
