Maltese Athlete Ryan Mex Proposes To Singer Jessika On 4,000-Metre Mountain In Morocco
Best engagement of the year? Well, definitely one of the highest! Maltese athlete Ryan Farrugia (popularly known as Ryan Mex) has proposed to singer Jessika.. and it was only after they had casually summited a 4,000-metre mountain in Morocco.
As the sun was rising across the scenic view, following a daunting climb on Morocco’s second highest summit at 4,089 metres, Ryan popped the question.
The couple are currently on an adventure trip together in the country and have been together for more than four years.
“I knew you were going to be my personal best and this is proof for it,” Jessika said on Facebook. “I just said a big fat yes to a common future with my partner in crime.”
“Proposing on a 4,000-metre mountain after a long climb is symbolic because mountains represent challenges, like in life, which need to be overcome together,” Ryan told Lovin Malta.
“The summit represents triumph and success, and the 4,000m represents uniqueness – a special place where very few people get to see because it takes three days of trekking and climbing to get there,” the athlete continued.
Jessika is well known within the local sphere as a singer and actress, having participated in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest between 2008 and 2017 and even representing San Marino at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
Meanwhile, Ryan is a National Team athlete and a mountaineer with an insane track record, as well as an Obstacle Course Race and trail running coach.
