‘Nobody Is Greater Than The Country’: Robert Abela Indicates Rosianne Cutajar Should Assume Responsibility Over Yorgen Chats
Prime Minister Robert Abela has given his first indication that MP Rosianne Cutajar should shoulder responsibility over the leaked chats with Yorgen Fenech.
This comes after author and former book council chair Mark Camilleri leaked thousands of damning chats between Cutajar and Fenech, who is the suspected mastermind in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
“No one is greater than the party and no one is bigger than the country,” Abela said on Monday.
Although he did not outrightly say that Cutajar should resign, he hinted that MPs must understand the greatness of the responsibility they bear and that negative episodes should not tarnish “all the good Labour has achieved over the last 10 years”.
“In the past 10 years, this government has done a lot of good. We must not let the negative, the bad, ruin the good that we have done,” he claimed.
“I am convinced that members of parliament understand the responsibility they bear, towards the Labour Party parliamentary group, the Labour Party, and the country in general,” the prime minister said.
Since the chat leak, thousands of people around the islands have called for Cutajar to resign from her position as MP.
However, when initially questioned, Abela said that Cutajar had already paid her price when she had to resign from her position as parliamentary secretary a few years back.
Meanwhile, just yesterday, it was revealed that Cutajar is now expecting a baby girl together with Daniel Farrugia.
Do you think Rosianne Cutajar should resign from her position as a member of parliament?
