‘People Are So Lovely’: Daughter Of Beloved Captain Touched By Marsaxlokk Tribute To Late Father
Emma Walker, the daughter of John Perkins, the local captain who tragically lost his life in a yacht incident thanked locals for a touching tribute made in her father’s honour.
A marble stone plaque put up at the place of his untimely death read: ‘In loving memory of Captain John Perkins, died in storm on 21st April 2022. Rest in peace.’
The gesture was a touching one for Perkins’ daughter, Emma, who thanked those responsible on social media.
“People are just so, so lovely,” she wrote. “A security company in Malta had this made for this for dad as he was always popping in for some water, and to charge his phone.”
Perkins lost his life after the boat he lived on, JJ Boat, detached from its berth and capsized amid strong gale force winds.
Footage of a yacht and related debris smashing upon the Marsaxlokk breakwater due to the winds was released the night before news of John’s death had been made public.

Friends and loved ones remember John as a bright soul who was “lively for his age” and loved to take people out on his boat whenever he could.
Rest in peace
