Thunder Incoming! Storm To Hit Malta This Thursday On The Last Day Of ‘Rain Season’
Malta’s annual rain season is coming to an end this Thursday… and it looks like the total tally is about to go up in the final moments with a storm that is expected to hit on the day.
Recorded from the 1st September 2022 to the 31st August 2023, the islands’ season record of rain is currently sitting on 481mm, but as Facebook forecasting, Aġġornament tat-Temp said earlier today, the final number will surely change thanks to a perfectly timed spell of rain coming on the season’s last day.
“On the 31st of August or rather this Thursday, a thunderstorm is expected which will increase the amount of rain in the Maltese Islands,” Aġġornament tat-Temp wrote on Facebook, “There is a high possibility of rain but the amount is still changing.”
A thunderstorm is developing between Malta and Sicily, and the chance of it hitting the islands is a high percentage of 60% – but this number keeps on changing.
The percentage is shifting due to the African anti-cyclone which will level up the atmospheric pressure and result in Thursday’s anticipated storm.
In Genoa, Italy, a powerful thunderstorm struck the city, triggering severe flooding.
Another local weather page Maltese Islands Weather, shared some points on how to “prepare your home for the rain, and to take advantage of the fresher but still stable weather of these three days.”
What do you make of this rain season?
