Victim Of Gżira Fatal Crash Identified As Turkish Woman Pelin Kaya

The victim of this morning’s shocking fatal crash in Gżira has been identified as Pelin Kaya.

The 30-year-old woman of Turkish descent was killed after the driver, who was under the influence of drugs, drove into the KFC outlet in Gżira.

While speaking with Lovin Malta, a colleague of hers described her as “a dear friend”, confirming that they assisted police in identifying her.

The driver has since been identified as Jeremie Camilleri, and it has been confirmed that he was under the influence of drugs.

The incident occurred at around 1am, along Triq Testaferrata in Gżira.

People on site immediately tried to assist the woman but were met with aggression from Camilleri, who ultimately had to be tased by police in order to contain him.

Magistrate Nadina Lia is leading an inquiry, while police investigations are still ongoing.
