Neil Agius is currently taking on day 2 of the Gozo 7 challenge where he will be swimming around Gozo everyday for seven days.

Neil took off from Ħondoq bay at 6am this morning and is expected to arrive in Mġarr ix-Xini at around 9pm tonight, with an estimated swim time of 15 hours.

Yesterday, Neil swam 44kms from Ramla Bay to Ħondoq Bay and the swim was tracked in extreme detail. From heart rate to oxygen level and blood pressure, this takes the challenge to the next level, a science experiment to see how far the human body can be tested.

Neil’s physiotherapist Matt Camilleri joined the crew just earlier today, taking over the driving of the rib and make sure everything is running smoothly. “Conditions look much better today,” Matt said.

With the first swim behind him, “Obviously he’s going to be a bit more tired, but we’re talking about Neil Agius who’s superhuman, we all know it.”

Neil is being monitored closely by a scientific team who are evaluating how he responds to extreme stress and recovery.

Well done Neil, keep going!
