‘Welcome To Gozo’: PN MP Alex Borg Highlights Island’s Issues, From Non-Existent Roadworks To Nikolaos

PN MP Alex Borg has highlighted a list of Gozo’s main and seemingly forgotten issues while humorously welcoming Robert Abela who is set to come up to the sister island over the weekend.

“Calling out Robert Abela and his entourage who are coming to visit Gozo over the weekend. We welcome you!” Borg wrote on social media, before a long list of issues that Gozo is currently facing as members from the government are set to visit for a political activity this coming weekend.

He started off by pointing out how works have once again commenced along Triq tal-Għadira, a project which has now been going on for years.

“As you’re driving through Għadira, ask yourself why they’re working on the road again. Do you realise how much time this project, which has been going on for years, has wasted for workers and people desperate to get back to their families?” he said.

“And then you embark on the Nikolaos, and ask yourself if we’re in the year 2023.” He continued by referencing past claims on how the ship is “commercially sensitive”, claiming that it’s probably only a sensitive matter due to the “ridiculous price being paid for such a ship”.

“As soon as you’ve disembarked from the ship, take a tour of residential streets and ask yourselves – where did the 700 million go? Why are the streets such a disaster compared to Malta? These are all answers that Robert Abela’s Government hasn’t provided so far.”

He even suggested people to stop at the Ta’ Ċawla area in Rabat, and ask themselves whether they have any respect for the residents there or whether they just go there for votes, amid a monstrous development which was recently approved.

“We hope that no one needs a hospital while they’re here, because you’ll quickly need an ambulance to go to Malta because of the inadequate service here.”

“Oh and during the activity, will anything be mentioned about the new hospital? Because so far Chris Fearne has been dodging that question.”

He even reminded the public on a school which was supposed to have opened as long as four years ago, and a museum which lost European funds, located along It-Tokk tat-Tiġrija.

“Then after the activity, maybe you want to enjoy a walk to Marsalforn and ask the people who’s spreading fake news. Ask them if Marsalforn has changed.”

“Do the walkabouts as usual and ask if life is improving. If the salaries that people have make sense, or whether they’re lower than Malta’s.”

“With these few points, you might begin to understand the Gozitan reality. Gozo needs serious leadership, and despite many strategies and numbers, so far you have been completely disconnected from the reality of what it means to live in Gozo.”

“Welcome to Gozo.”
