‘Why Do You Even Encourage Women To Report?’: Sandra Gauci Reacts To AFM Sexual Harassment Case Being Dropped
ADPD candidate and women’s rights activist Sandra Gauci has questioned why the authorities even encourage women to place reports regarding sexual harassment, when little to no action is then taken.
This comes following the recent news of the alleged AFM sexual harassment case being dropped by the police, as apparently not enough evidence was found to be sufficient in a court of law.
“An injustice has happened once again, and it’s completely useless to tell women to report accounts of sexual harassment if then the action taken is weak and a waste of time for those that are meant to be in place to take care of us,” she said.
“Who is going to protect us from those that are meant to protect us, if they constantly make mistakes?” she questioned.
She also made reference to the fact that this is not the first time that something of such nature occurred while in uniform, with no action being taken.
“Friends of friends are above justice,” she lamented.
This comes after it was recently unveiled that the case went silent after it was said by candidate Sandra Gauci that the case was passed under the Attorney General’s remit.
The allegations mainly revolve around sexual harassment, after the AFM officer sent sexually-explicit content to his then ex-partner.
Lovin Malta has seen a series of sexually explicit images and videos sent by the AFM officer in question, who sent the videos while wearing his uniform and allegedly from within the army barracks.
Do you think that the investigation should have been dropped?
