‘You Couldn’t Make This Shit Up’: Labour CEO Blasts New ‘Homophobic’ MEP Candidate Simon Mercieca

Labour CEO Randolph Debattista has blasted history lecturer and blogger Simon Mercieca’s MEP candidature, calling him “homophobic” while expressing sheer disbelief at the news.
“You couldn’t make this shit up,” De Battista wrote on social media.
“A homophobic, right-wing university lecturer who continuously harasses LGBTIQ activists running for MEP, nominated by the person who resigned from the European Commission on corruption allegations,” he continued, referring to former PN minister John Dalli.
Mercieca will be contesting as part of a group of independents, along with Alexander D’Agata and Radu Gheorghi.
“If other prospective MEP candidates want to join this pool of mutual support, we will welcome you on board. There is victory in unity,” he wrote.
In recent years, Mercieca has used his blog to pitch himself as an “anti-woke” campaigner. However, he has himself taken great offence at comments passed against him. In 2020, he demanded the University of Malta take action against Matthew Caruana Galizia for calling him a “single-celled organism”, accusing him of “racism” and “fascism”.
Are you shocked at Mercieca’s candidature?
