15 Migrants Escape From Marsa Reception Centre And Refugee Commissioner
Thirteen migrants escaped from the Initial Reception Centre in Maria and a further two fled from the Office of the Refugee Commissioner last night.
In a brief statement, the Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers (AWAS) said the first set of migrants were being assessed for checks and medical clearance while the other two were taken to the Refugee Commissioner to apply for protection. AWAS provided no further details on their nationalities or the circumstances of their escapes.
A police report was filed and five of the migrants have since been found and returned to the Initial Reception Centre.
