All Correspondence Between PM, Junior Minister And Suspended Passport Seller Blocked From Public

Any correspondence between Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, his junior minister Julia Farrugia Portelli, and the passports agent at the centre of a trading in influence scandal will stay in the dark until the conclusion of investigations.
The information was revealed in parliament after MP Karol Aquilina asked for all correspondence between the three, whether that was an email, text message, or telephone call.
While Joseph Muscat did note that such correspondence does exist, he declined to table the information in parliament pending the current investigation.
In undercover footage, representatives at Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates were seen boasting about their ministerial connections, namely with Muscat and Julia Farrugia Portelli, and how authorities would “close an eye” to buyers with a criminal record.
“I say, look, with some more information we can have a fuller picture and sometimes…because they can’t tell me what the reason is…they can wink when I suggest certain things and therefore it helps me submit information to contradict that,” Jean-Philippe Chetcuti says in the video.
Both the Prime Minister and junior minister claimed they had “no relationship whatsoever with the firm”.
However, a series of photos showed multiple meetings over the past few years. Meanwhile, Castille, Farrugia Portelli, the Individual Investor Programme (IIP) CEO, and Malta Residency Visa Agency CEO also provided the stellar backdrop in a promotional video for the now-suspended passport seller.
The Commissioner for Standards in Public Life and the Chamber of Advocates have initiated their own investigations, while the police have launched a probe into allegations.
