Breaking: Rosianne Cutajar Resigns From PL Parliamentary Group, Will Stay On As An Independent MP
Rosianne Cutajar has resigned from the PL parliamentary group and will stay on as an independent candidate.
“I am taking this decision serenely but with a heavy heart because the PL has been my second family for the last 13 years,” Cutajar wrote in an email to Prime Minister Robert Abela.
“I will spend more time taking care of my health and my new family and to thrive further on a professional level.”
Cutajar resigned after author Mark Camilleri published hundreds of pages of WhatsApp chats between her and Daphne Caruana Galizia murder suspect Yorgen Fenech.
In the leaked chats, Cutajar told Fenech that she will accept a consultancy position at ITS and pocket a second salary because “everyone is pigging out”.
Prime Minister Robert Abela’s immediate reaction to the leak was to accuse Camilleri of “misogyny” and of targetting Cutajar at a “particular point in her life”, an ostensible reference to her pregnancy.
However, he later adopted a different stance and stated publicly that “nobody is greater than the country”.
