Cassola Reports Miriam Dalli For ‘Secretly Contracting’ Ira Losco To Promote Her New Green Project
Independent politician Arnold Cassola has filed a complaint with Standards Commissioner Joseph Azzopardi reporting Energy Minister Miriam Dalli and MEP candidate Steve Ellul for their actions.
In a letter, Cassola claimed that Dalli and Ellul contracted Maltese icon Ira Losco against payment to post on Facebook showing herself and her family enjoying Project Green.
“These two people contracted Ira Losco against payment to post on Facebook as if her and her family were really happy Project Green of Dalli and Ellul,” Cassola said.
He said the accusation was serious for three reasons:
- False advertising, as Losco is creating fake PR for which she is being paid
- Dalli and Ellul are using taxpayer money to promote their political interests
- They are using the faces of Losco’s children to promote their political end, which is illegal

According to the ministerial code of ethics and guidelines issued by the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life, politicians are not allowed to use public funds for self-promotion.
