Christian Borg Remains In Pole Position For €2.5 Million Contract Supplying Cars To Court… While Facing Criminal Charges
Christian Borg, the man currently facing criminal charges remains at the forefront of being awarded a multi-million-euro tender that would see his company supply cars to the very court itself.
Borg is currently facing court proceedings along with four other persons, all of whom were charged with the abduction of a man in Rabat.
They are also being charged with holding the victim against his will, robbing him of €1,000 and a mobile phone, criminal conspiracy and threats beyond the limit of provocation.
As court hearings resume, however, Borg’s company remains in the lead to win a lucrative €2.5 million contract that would see his company – Princess Operations ltd – lease cars to the Court Services Agency.
Should the deal go through, the supplied cars would be used by members of the judiciary and their families.
At a news conference, NET questioned Prime Minister Robert Abela about the likelihood that the tender would, in fact, be awarded to Borg’s company. Abela, in turn, maintained that the process is still in the evaluation stage and as a result, will not require his interference.
Borg and Abela have also found controversy amongst themselves over a property deal in Żabbar from which the Prime Minister allegedly roped in €45,000. Regardless, when questioned by NET journalists, Abela maintained that “all factors will be taken into account during the evaluation process.”
The tender was issued on 17th May 2022 and has seen three car-rental companies vie for the contract. Borg’s company remains at the forefront with a proposal that is €718,713 cheaper than the company sitting in second.
With both the tender and court proceedings still underway, the outcome of either scenario remains unknown.
Do you think Borg’s company should be awarded the tender?
