Father And Soldier Christian Degabriele Given Final Farewell As Hundreds Mourn
Father and soldier Christian Degabriele was given a beautiful final farewell, as hundreds attended to share their last goodbyes.
35-year-old Degabriele tragically lost his life while he was diving in the area of St Paul’s Bay, with an inquiry into his death still ongoing.
“Christian’s life was a gift for all of us,” Army Parish Priest Dun Joseph Meli told the gathered crowd.
“First as a Maltese citizen who chose to give service to the Maltese people by entering the Armed Forces and secondly by serving in an exemplary way,” Dun Meli said.
“I promise you, my friend, that we will never forget and you will remain in our hearts and thoughts forever,” a member of the Paola Kordin Football Club wrote.
The funeral was held on 17th August, at St Catherine’s Church in Żejtun, with his colleagues carrying his coffin out of the church together.
Mourners who gathered to pay tribute were greatly saddened about this tragedy, with the shock of the tragic news still present.
