An Italian construction worker has been rushed to hospital with grievous injuries after the roof of an old house in Luqa collapsed on him.

A police spokesperson told Lovin Malta that the construction worker and a colleague, also an Italian, were surveying the house in Triq il-?dida at around 10:20am when the roof collapsed.

Civil Protection Department officials had to be called on site to pull the man out of the rubble, while medics waited outside to rush him to Mater Dei. His colleague was hospitalised too, but he reportedly only suffered light injuries.
