A dead body in an advanced state of decomposition was found in the sea by Wied il-Mielaħ, Għarb yesterday.

Police said in a statement that they were informed of the discovery at around 5pm yesterday and immediately alerted the Armed Forces of Malta, who recovered the corpse and took it to Mġarr.

While the corpse most likely belonged to a man, initial investigations were inconclusive due to its decomposed state

An autopsy on the corpse to determine the cause of death is set to take place, while Magistrate Simone Grech has been informed of the case.
