Malta’s Cabinet has rejected another pardon request from Alfred and George Degiorgio, the two brothers charged with assassinating journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The decision was made by Cabinet upon the advice of the Attorney General, and the Police Commissioner.

Minister Carmelo Abela, who is allegedly part of the claims in the pardon, recused himself from the discussion.

The brothers requested a pardon in order to reveal the identity of an as yet unidentified mastermind in the murder, who they claim to have been a sitting minister at the time. They also claim they are ready to provide information on crimes relating to aggravated theft and homicide, by naming two masterminds.

Recently, the brothers sent an open letter to him last week, alleging they had information showing former Economy Minister Chris Cardona and Minister Abela were involved in serious crimes.

Should the brothers be granted a pardon?
