PN Għasri Mayor Resigns Just A Day After Publicly Meeting With Robert Abela

Gozitan mayor of Għasri Daniel Attard has filed his resignation from the Nationalist Party, only a day after posting an image to his social media platforms publicly meeting with Prime Minister Robert Abela.
This comes as Malta steps into week two of the ongoing electoral campaign, and yet another unexpected resignation.
“I will remain both accessible and dedicated towards the people of Għasri which I love, and I have been loyal towards during my last nine years as the mayor,” he said.
Attard uploaded an image of his resignation letter, which was addressed to PN Secretary-General Michael Piccinino, where Attard expressed his love for the locality, after being mayor for nine years.
“I’d like to inform you that, effective immediately, I am resigning as a member of the Nationalist Party,” he wrote.
Attard also promised that he will continue working for the good of the town, and also expressed that he is looking forward with a positive mindset.
No reason was given for his resignation, however, his resignation coincided with Attard uploading an image meeting with Prime Minister Robert Abela during a visit.
The Nationalist Party has already faced five resignations during the last few days, including Kristy Debono, Claudio Grech, Mario Galea, Clyde Puli, and now Daniel Attard.
Following Attard’s abrupt resignation, it will be very hard for the Nationalist Party to secure Għasri now, in the upcoming general election.
