An Armed Forces of Malta plane was forced to make an emergency landing after developing an engine failure.

The plane, a King Air Beechcraft B200 carrying tail number AS1126 landed in Luqa around 5.30pm yesterday after the port engine developed trouble.

Initial indications show the aircraft suffered from “an unresponsive throttle lever with the engine having to be shut down”.

“The aircraft made an uneventful landing at around 17:30LT and was met by MIA’s emergency response team as it slowed down along the runway with its port side propellor fully feathered,” Malta Aviation Outlook said.

The pilot was not hurt in the incident.
