‘Eternal Gratitude’: No Traces Of Cancer Found In Little Luca As Local Footballer Rejoices
The son of a football player that made a name for himself playing locally has made a major improvement in his fight against cancer.
Luca Maia, the son of Patrick Maia, the former Marsa FC player, no longer has any traces of cancer in his body, sports news centre Replay announced.
“Thank God, the happiness we are feeling since yesterday, there is no way to measure, Father you kept us firm all this time, your love, your care, brought us here,” Luca’s mother posted after the incredible news.
“Luca is in remission! Thank you, my God. Thank you. Without you in our lives we would never have reached today. Eternal gratitude.”

The little boy, who suffered from a complex form of cancer and was also diagnosed with COVID-19 last year, is still under doctor observation, but his family are overjoyed at the positive turn of events.

During the pandemic, fans and the wider football community had come together to donate to Maia and family after the footballer opened up about his financial struggles as sports events were put on hold under health guidelines.
Over €30,000 was raised for baby Luca’s recovery in an example of the generosity found in Malta when times call for it. At the time, aged just one years old, he was given a 50% chance to live.
