This is not a drill: Eileen Montesin’s iconic phrase ‘Ara Doris’ – which had become a national meme – is being turned into a TV series!

Eileen’s iconic catchphrase “Ara Doris, hello!” which was said during a televised opening of Malta’s carnival back in 2006, quickly went viral all over Malta at the onset of the internet age.

But now, the viral moment is set to be transformed into an actual weekly sitcom by Eileen herself!

While details are still being kept quite vague, Montensin personally confirmed with Lovin Malta that the filming has now started.

The first episode is set to air on 1st October, perfectly coinciding with Eileen’s birthday.

Lovin Malta also got a teaser of the cast who’s currently working on the series, featuring a couple of familiar faces from Maltese television.

Releasing weekly, ‘Ara Doris’ is set to form part of Montesin’s Family Affair TV programme, which currently airs on NET TV on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Apart from that, there’s also a sweet backstory behind who Doris is, whom Eileen had described as “a dear friend from Għaxaq who I really admire, a mother of three who simply adored her children” in an interview

In fact, Eileen had actually described Doris as her role model, saying “I always said if I had to be a mum, I would be like her”.
