‘Full Respect For The UN Charter’: Roberta Metsola Meets UN Chief Antonio Guterres In New York

European Parliament (EP) President Roberta Metsola met UN Chief Antonio Guterres while attending the opening of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Metsola described Guterres as “unflappable” as she uses this meeting to reinforce the bond between the EU and the UN.

“In times of geopolitical tensions, with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, we need full respect for the UN Charter, human dignity and the rules-based world order,” Roberta wrote on her social media.

“It is times like these that the importance of multilateralism, symbolised in the UN, is critical,” Metsola concluded, emphasising the need for international cooperation during these challenging times.

Roberta is currently in New York where she also addressed the World Leaders Forum organised by Columbia University.
