Gordon Manche Was Minutes Away From Bringing Down Hugely Popular Local Production

Local civil courts have rejected an application to block the live production of Min Imissu for its portrayal of infamous pastor Gordon Manche and his wife.

The Manches took the case to court in the hopes of blocking the show from parodying their controversial views on homosexuality. The character in question is that of Jordan Manke (how did he even crack the code?) who preaches about love but often snaps to the catchphrase “hawn xi gay?”.

The action was filed against the directors of the show, Abigail Mallia and Carlos Debattista, and for a while the team wasn’t even sure if that night’s performance would even go ahead. But minutes before the show was scheduled to start, the court rejected Manche’s application, stating:

“Every person has the right to their dignity. But on the other hand there is also the right to freedom of expression that needs to be considered. There’s also the need to respect the creative skill of others, and the important role comedy plays in our society.”
