Her US adventure follows an amazing two seasons at Italian side Sassuolo, who signed her at just 16 years of age in 2020. Since then, however, she has taken the Italian Serie A by storm.
The deal will see her remain tied to the Florida-based team for at least one-and-a-half years. And with the club already in the third month of the league, an early debut is on the cards.
Haley ignited the Serie A from the very first appearance for Sassuolo, after the then-16-year-old went viral for scoring a ‘Messi-style’ solo goal against Napoli.
She netted 12 goals that season. A feat that almost fired Sassuolo Femminile to the Women’s Champion’s League.
Her continued vein of form saw her rise to 3rd place n GOAL’s ‘Top 10 Wonderkids Of The Year’ – just behind international sensations Mary Fowler and Melchie Dumornay.
In Florida, Bugeja will play alongside club captain and Brazilian star Marta – six times FIFA World Player of the Year between 2006 and 2018.
In taking her game to the US, there’s no question that Malta’s young talent will be nothing short of ready to ignite the scene.
In 2020, she even featured in an episode of Lovin Meets, as her rise to prominence garnered the attention of many football enthusiasts in and out of the country.
