Injured Dog Rescued Hours After Falling Into Exposed Road Works Trench In Għadira

An injured seemingly stray dog was rescued hours after falling into an exposed trench part of ongoing road works in Għadira.
After it allegedly took Animal Welfare over three hours to rescue the dog, Maltese animal activists from Vuċi Għall-Annimali have strongly lamented the government’s inaction when it comes to providing more resources to aid animal welfare in Malta.
“A dog fell here, they’ve been calling Animal Welfare since 8.30am to come and he was only rescued now,” the activist group said on Facebook around an hour ago.
“Is this the reform we were promised?? The dog has been there for three hours because the officers have to deal with all of Malta with just one ambulance?”
“He can barely walk, when will we start treating them with dignity?”
An activist from the group who got in touch with Lovin Malta confirmed that the dog is now under the care of Animal Welfare.
This is far from the first time that exposed trenches in road works have led to incidents around Malta. The road works which led to this incident are related to the ongoing project being carried out along the Għadira front by Infrastructure Malta.
Lovin Malta reached out to Infrastructure Malta for a comment but no response was given at the time of publishing.
